I hate it when heroines, especially those who are strong, smart, and resilient like this one, suddenly turn stupid to make a plot point.

Despite all she knew of the hero from her months of living with him as his housekeeper, how she could jump to such a fast conclusion about him frankly astonished me. But then I got so frustrated near the middle point of the book when the heroine seemed to lose every brain cell in her head and acted stupidly. If the author had continued in this vein, I would have enjoyed the story.

I enjoyed the first half of the book, first drawn in by the heroine in distress and then enjoying watching the slow-burn romance unfold between the characters. In fact, I thought this review would be something quite different from what it is going to be. It actually looked pretty good for a while. The first book I read by this author, Love and Other Addictions, I wasn't wild about for reasons that I won't detail, but I thought I would give this book a chance. When a writer has books in a genre that I normally love, I will give them a couple of chances if I don't like the first book that I read.
